Dr. Florkowski is a consultant in chemical pathology at Canterbury Health Laboratories in Christchurch, New Zealand and also a practising specialist physician in diabetes. He is a former vice-president of the Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists and was part of a team that facilitated the introduction of HbA1c into New Zealand as a diagnostic test for diabetes.
