Liquid Biopsy: Experiences from a CAP/CLIA-certified Laboratory
Significant advances have been made in the analysis of circulating tumor cells (CTC) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). This workshop will discuss a blood-based test that provides real-time information for diagnosis or therapy monitoring to identify specific driver mutations with proven clinical utility. The GeneStrat® Test uses Droplet Digital™ PCR to analyze cell-free DNA and RNA delivering comprehensive results including: EGFR, KRAS, BRAF, EML4-ALK, ROS1 and RET variants. It is intended for use in patients diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and it has been utilized to analyze greater than 44,000 individual variants.

2017 AACC Additional Sessions
AACC Brown Bag Seminar Challenges of Quality Control in Modern Analytical Systems Oswald Sonntag, PhD Bio-Rad Laboratories
Quality control (QC) practices should identify, reduce and correct deficiencies within a laboratory internal analytical process, thereby maintaining the integrity of the reported patient results. However, the quality control practices appropriate for instruments that accommodate low- or mid-volume laboratories may be insufficient for large, automated, high-throughput systems. This session will discuss the challenges of translating quality control practices from low-volume to high-volume laboratory systems. We will identify practices that are applicable to participant's laboratories.
AACC Brown Bag Seminar How Statistics Influence Our Clinical Decisions Oswald Sonntag, PhD Bio-Rad Laboratories
This session will focus on understanding and interpreting statistical data relevant to laboratory medicine. Statistical analysis can be subjective. Therefore statistical data derived from method comparisons, validations, and reference intervals are often influenced by the person analyzing the data and their aptitude for statistics
